Our Pledge
Part of UNTUCK’s core business philosophy has always been to work with non-profit organizations that strive to make a real difference in our world. Since our inception in 2005, we’ve had the pleasure to work with local, regional, national and even global organizations to help make the lives of our fellow man, better.
Over the last few years, we’ve worked closely with Women Against Abuse (WAA) to unify their visual identity and create new paths of communication with their advocates, donors, volunteers and sponsors. In February 2008, WAA approached UNTUCK to create and execute an annual social awareness campaign in the City of Philadelphia. The launch of this campaign appropriately coincided with National Domestic Violence Awareness month, in October. The hope was to build awareness in our fellow Philadelphians and inspire them to take action against violence at home and in the community.
Some of the key objectives for the campaign were to:
- Create awareness for domestic abuse as a social issue/problem
- Allow the message to resonate with the masses, since domestic violence doesn’t discriminate against gender, race, economic status or age
- Use a tone of empowerment, not somber victimization
- Inspire the community to participate in the eradication of the problem
- Make a case for support through volunteerism and contributions
- Create awareness for WAA and its programs and services
By conducting interviews with key members of WAA and through independent research, UNTUCK developed the I Pledge Campaign. It consisted of two distinct messages—"I pledge not to raise my hand in violence" and "I pledge to raise my voice against violence"—which counter typical domestic violence behaviors.
WAA first launched I Pledge at the Mayor’s press conference in City Hall, October 2008. The campaign included hanging street banners, bus shelter advertising, posters, print advertising, t-shirts, pledge website and more.
This October, join WAA and Mayor Nutter at Drexel University to launch their 2nd annual campaign. Keep an eye-out for hanging street banners and bus shelter posters around Broad and Market Streets and visit www.ipledgewaa.org to make your pledge against domestic violence today. The first ten people to sign the pledge and email Amy will be sent an I Pledge t-shirt. You can also purchase one for only $10 by emailing Maryrose at WAA. |
