Each student at Eastern University receives an education that transcends academics—a transformative experience—which helps students grow in their faith as well as their chosen area of study. This shapes them to be a positive force in the world around them. The Eastern Advancement team approached us to develop an Annual Review to help jump-start their University-wide capital campaign.
Honoring the faithful giving of existing donors while continuing to fundraise for the future of the University is always a delicate dance. We made sure to be mindful of this situation by focusing on the impact of giving through artful and intimate storytelling. The stories centered on growth, accomplishment, and possibility across the five areas that comprise the “Eastern Experience.” Our nimble team worked closely with Eastern staff, students, alumni, and faculty to craft the concept, narrative, and design for this In Review. Readers can easily skim the document to find areas of personal interest while absorbing the high-level narrative of “Great is Your Faithfulness,” and the life-changing power it affords.
We began each section of the report with a well-crafted message that defines the holistic Eastern experience, followed by highlights and statistics around recent accomplishments. Using an abundance of beautiful photography, we were able to convey the extraordinary transformation and growth that takes place on campus in the lives of students, faculty, and staff at the University.
The large format with mixed-in short sheet features creates an immersive, varied, and tactile experience that invites the reader to interact with the report in unexpected ways. This larger format allowed for larger type styles for maximum legibility without sacrificing design integrity. The short sheets sprinkled throughout are a modern touch to create content separation and further highlight the five narratives weaved into the report.
